Cool Off This Summer With The Refreshing Mojito
It’s summer and it’s getting hot outside, so you’ll want to cool off with a drink that’s just as refreshing as it is cool, and what’s better than a Mojito at this time of year. The Mojito is a sweet Cuban cocktail that is made from five simple ingredients, white Rum, sugar, lime, mint leaves and carbonated water, and it’s just as refreshing as it is popular. If you’re not a fan of sweet drinks, then you can always add an Angostura bitter to cut its sweetness, but it won’t be an authentic version that you’ll find served in Havanna. To prepare this drink you’ll need to gently muddle your mint leaves with fresh squeezed lime juice and sugar in a highball glass using either a fork or if you’re lucky enough to have one, muddler to coat the inside of the glass. Be sure that you only bruise the mint leaves and don’t shred them, then top your glass with ice and pour in the white Rum while stirring to dissolve the sugar. Finally you’ll top off the glass with carbonated water or club soda, and garnish with a slice of lime and mint. If you’re tending bar for your friends, then this drink is ready to be served and be sure that you’ve made one for yourself, you deserve it.
